A HISTORY OF THEATRE IN MALTA

The Kullana Kulturali series, published by PIN (Pubblikazzjoni Indipendenza) Ltd. has published Mario Azzopardi's L-Istorja tat-Teatru f'Malta (The Story of Theatre in Malta).  This is the first time that a comprehensive theatre history of the Maltese Islands has been published.  The volume takes readers back to the primitive rituals performed in Malta in honour of the Fertility Goddess and proceeds with an evaluation of drama in the Middle Ages, Carnival, influences from the Italian Comedy of Art and the significance of modern dramatic idiom in Malta. L-Istorja tat-Teatru f'Malta also traces modes of alternative theatre, including experiments with participants with special needs.
